The tech giant Apple has taken the covers off of its 2018 flagship iPhones series. In its annual iPhone Launch event, Apple has announced three new variants in its iPhone 2018 lineup, the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the cheaper iPhone XR.
The new flagship smartphones - iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, are all set to lift up the industry standard for flagship smartphones to come. The key highlight of the new models is support for dual-SIM and dual standby (DSDS) and Gigabit-class LTE speeds support. The iPhone XS Max is essentially a larger iPhone XS.
The 5.8-inch iPhone Xs could be the next compact flagship to compete with, while the 6.5-inch iPhone Xs Max could turn out to be a true rival for large-screen Android flagships like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Both iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max feature a powerful A12 Bionic chipset with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit capable of performing 5 Trillion operations per second.
The iPhone XS is listed at a starting price of Rs. 99,900 ($999) in India and iPhone XS Max is listed at a starting price of Rs. 1,09,900($1,099). Along with the new iPhone series, Apple also launched the next generation of its wearable, the Apple Watch Series 4.

Display:
The iPhone XS features a 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina (1125x2234 pixels) display with the same notch as the one seen on 2017's iPhone X. While the iPhone XS Max features a large 6.5-inch OLED Super Retina display with a 1242x2688 pixel resolution and with a similar display notch.
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max OLED Super Retina display support HDR 10 and Dolby Digital for better color reproduction with 60% higher dynamic range.
Processor and Performance:
Both iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max feature Apple's latest A12 Bionic SoC, which is considered as one of the finest 7nm processes. The new 6-core A12 Bionic chip has 2 performance cores, which are up to 15 percent faster and consumes 40 percent lower power, and 4 efficiency cores with up to 50 percent lower power consumption.
According to the Apple, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max offer 30 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes more battery life, respectively, compared to the iPhone X.
Both iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are available in three variants of inbuilt storage - 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Both the smartphones feature a glass back panel and support wireless charging and also spot a surgical-grade stainless steel body with glass casing on both sides, similar to iPhone X. iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are Apple's first iPhone models with IP68 water and dust resistance.
Camera:
Both iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max offer the same camera hardware specifications. The iPhone flagship series features a 12MP f/1.8 + 12MP f/2.4 dual rear camera setup, along with a 7MP camera on the front RGB camera sensor, that's said to be faster, and features a f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera gets a 6-element lens and dual optical image stabilization with 2x optical zoom.
According to the Apple, the neural network chip in the new iPhone flagships delivers a better Portrait mode experience, and users can also tweak the background blur intensity in pictures in real-time.
iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max Price, and Availability:
Both iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are available in three storage variants of 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The iPhone XS is available at a sarting price of $999 (roughly Rs. 71,800) for the 64GB variant, $1,149 (roughly Rs. 82,600) for the 256GB variant, and $1,349 (roughly Rs. 97,000) for 512GB.
The iPhone XS Max has a starting price of $1,099 (roughly Rs. 79,000) for the 64GB variant, $1,249 (roughly Rs. 89,800) for the 256GB variant, and $1,449 (1,04,200) for the 512GB variant.
In India, the iPhone Xs starts at price tag of Rs 99,900 for the 64GB variant and goes up to Rs. 1,14,900 and Rs. 1,34,900 for the 256GB and 512GB variants, respectivly.
While the iPhone Xs Max in India will be available at a starting price of Rs 1,09,900, Rs. 1,24,900, and Rs. 1,44,900 for the 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options, respectivly.
Both new iPhone models will go up for pre-orders from September 14 and will be available to the customers from September 21 for the first wave of launch countries.
While in India, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be available to the customers from September 28.
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be available in three color options - Gold, Space Grey and Silver.
