5G smartphones are already taking over the smartphone arena in 2019. After repeatedly listening, "5G is coming", from the telecom giants and smartphone OEMs for years, now finally after lots of marketing jargon, it seems that we are slowly and steadily, inching closer to reality. 5G is almost here. 


We've already seen that the big players like the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the Huawei Mate X, the LG V50 ThinQ and many others have jumped into the market to show off their 5G capabilities, and plenty more are on the way. 


In the recently concluded MWC 2019 (Mobile World Congress), most major smartphone makers came prepared with at least one 5G-enabled smartphone to show everyone just what the hype is about.
 
The fifth-generation network promises to offer high bandwidth with lightning-fast download speeds and rapid streaming with essentially zero latency, along with an IoT revolution, enabling plenty more gadgets and device getting online like self-driving cars and so on. 

Here we have tried to run through the list of major and best 5G smartphones we're expecting to launch in 2019. With many big players like Samsung, Huawei, Sony and many others have already hinted towards their 5G products let's see who will the race to the first true 5G phone?
 

So, here’s the complete list of 5G smartphones we are expecting to launch in 2019:


Samsung Galaxy S10 5G:

The Korean giant, Samsung has already jumped into the 5G smartphone race with the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the super fast variant of the Samsung Galaxy S10, launched a few days back just before the MWC 2019. The Samsung has already unveiled its own 5G-ready Exynos modem and is expected to launch atleast two 5G-enabled smartphones in 2019. The first one is Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and the second one is expected to be the 5G version of its Galaxy Fold phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is the giant member of the Galaxy S10 family and is expected to launch with a 6.7-inch display, along with 8GB RAM, 256GB in-built storage and the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor

The Galaxy S10 5G is expected to be back with a huge 4,500mAh battery

On the camera front, it is expected that Galaxy S10 5G will feature a quad camera setup 12MP, 12MP, 16MP and a 3D depth sensor for AR effects on the back and dual camera setup (10MP and another 3D depth sensor) on the front. The Galaxy S10 5G phone is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2019.


Samsung Galaxy Fold phone (5G Variant):

On the other hand, it is also expected that Samsung is also going to launch the 5G variant of the Samsung Galaxy Fold phone in 2019. The device will feature a flexible display that, when folded in, will act like a 4.6-inch smartphone with its external screen. When it is folded out, it will turn into a 7.3-inch tablet device

The device is expected to run on an unnamed 64-bit 7nm processor, alongside with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage

On the camera front, the device is expected to feature six cameras in total: three on the back, one on the front, and two on the inside. The device is expected to be powered up with two batteries totalling 4,380mAh.



Huawei Mate X:

Huawei is incredibly eyeing on snatching the “first 5G phone” title, with the launch of Huawei Mate X, which is expected to be a gorgeous competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold. According to Huawei, Huawei Mate X is going to be the world’s fastest foldable 5G phone. The company has claimed that the phone is capable of 4.6Gbps downlink speeds, which is double the industry standard for 5G and ten times what’s currently available with 4G networks, that bandwidth means you can download a 1GB movie in just three seconds at sub-6GHz speeds.


The Huawei Mate X features a single 8-inch flexible screen with a falcon wing hinge mechanism when the phone is folded out to its full tablet size. While in its closed smartphone mode Huawei Mate X features a 6.6-inch front screen and a 6.38-inch rear screen

Along with this, the phone features a Kirin 980 processor paired with the Balong 5000 modem to enable 5G connectivity, along with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage

The phone is powered up with two batteries with a combined size of 4,500mAh. The phone is scheduled to launch this summer for the price of 2,299 euros or about $2,110.



LG V50 ThinQ:

LG is looking to boost its standing in the market with the launch of its 5G smartphone, LG V50 ThinQ, which is the upgraded version of its predecessor LG V40. LG V50 ThinQ seems to be a strong 5G phone packed with powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.

The LG V50 ThinQ was launched at the MWC 2019. It features a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor along with X50 modem, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage

On the camera front, the phones feature the same five cameras set up, three in the back (16MP super-wide lens + 12MP standard lens + 12MP telephoto lens) and two in the front (8MP + 5MP), like that of older LG V40. 

The LG V50 ThinQ comes with a 6.4-inch POLED FullVision display with a 3,120 x 1,440 resolution along with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone comes with a large 4,000mAh battery and a new cooling system.



Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G:

The Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi is going to launch the 5G variant of its Mi Mix 3 flagship smartphone in May 2019. The 5G Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 appears to be a strong 5G smartphone and is powered with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset along with the Qualcomm's X50 5G modem.

The Mi Mix 3 5G variant features an almost completely bezel-less, magnetically sliding 6.39-inch OLED display with 93.4% screen-to-body ratio. 

On the specs front the device is paired with 6GB of RAM along with 64GB/128 GB of onboard storage and features dual camera setup both at the rear (12MP + 12MP) and front (24MP + 2MP). 

The phone comes with a larger 3,800mAh battery and will be running on Android 9.0 (Pie) OS. The phone is expected to go for sale this May in Europe and China at a price of 599 euros (~$679).



ZTE Axon 10 5G:

Another popular Chinese smartphone brand ZTE also announced the launch of its 5G smartphone at the MWC 2019. The ZTE is going to launch its 5G smartphone named as ZTE Axon 10 5G, somewhere in the first half of 2019.

The ZTE Axon 10 5G also features the Snapdragon 855 chipset and X50 5G modem, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage

The phone features a 6.47-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display along with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution (~87.9% screen-to-body ratio) and a waterdrop notch. The phone is expected to feature a triple rear camera setup (48 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP) along with a number of AI features and 20MP front selfie camera.


What about the rest?

The other big players like Sony, Oppo, OnePlus, Honor and many others are also looking towards the launch of their 5G smartphones in 2019. Sony and Oppo have already revealed their 5G prototype at the MWC 2019. 

 The Sony is looking to launch the 5G variant of its Xperia series believed to be powered by the Snapdragon 855 and X50 5G modem and is expected to feature similar screen size to that of recently revealed Xperia 1 phone. 

The other Chinese giant Oppo is also testing their 5G device and is expected to launch their first 5G phone at the end of the year. It is believed that the Oppo 5G smartphone will also feature the Snapdragon 855 and X50 5G modem

Another big player OnePlus is expected to launch the sequels of the OnePlus 6 and OnePLus 6T as their first 5G smartphone, which is more likely to be named as OnePlus 7 or possibly the OnePlus 7T.
