But with the launch of Facebook Messenger Lite by Facebook which consumes less data, one can save their monthly data package. It is a light version of Facebook Messenger app.

But it is available only for Android currently. One can easily download it from the Google play store for free. Also there are no other plans to make an IOS version in the future by TechCrunch.

If app is caught on Android from the Google play Store then you just need to click and start the app by signing in with your normal account information, just like as if you were setting up the normal messenger app on your phone.

Advantage of it is that you will not loose your current data(Chats and messages). Video chat cannot be done through Messenger Lite whereas the chat heads feature that pops up the notification over the top of other apps which won’t happen using this version either.

One can send the normal messages, emojis and photos through the messenger lite but if one wants the video call, voice call or any other multi media to use then they are restricted to use for such purpose.
