Nokia 8 flagship smartphone was launched yesterday by HMD Global at an event in London. From 'Bothie' cameras to Ozo Audio, here are the best features in the new device.
HMD Global has just launched the Nokia 8 Flagship smartphone at an event in London.HMD Global chief product officer Juho Sarvikas informed about the availability at the event. The Finnish company launched the device at the iconic London Tower Bridge, and the product has some top of the line specifications.
One of the most interesting features in the Nokia 8 is the ‘Bothie’ camera. This camera setup will allow you to take pictures from both the front and the rear camera. With this feature, Nokia is clearly aiming at the live streaming and stories features currently popular on most of the social media websites. Additionally, there is OZO Audio, which will enhance your video recording, but more on that later.
This Nokia 8 smartphone is expected to be available globally from September this year. The Nokia 8 is expected to be sold at an average price of Euro 599. In India, the phone is expected to be priced around Rs 45,000, when it hits stores by early October.

1. Premium build quality:
The Nokia 8 device reminds of the sturdy Nokia phone of yesteryears. It has the design and aesthetics of an old Nokia device, along with modern technology. The Nokia 8 sports a 5.3-inch 2K LCD IPS display with 700 nits brightness.
The phone has Gorilla Glass 5 on top and will launch with two glossy and two matte variants. There are no reduced bezels on the display, no curved edge display, which granted was not expected either.
Nokia 8 has a slightly curved design, which makes the phone easy to hold and use. There’s also a fingerprint resistant coating at the back. Made of 6000 series aluminium, this is one good looking flagship.

2. Specifications:
The phone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. You get a standard 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which is expandable. However, HMD Global is convinced that a lack of bloatware, coupled with their clean UI gives the phone a smooth performance.
The only hitch is that the front and rear camera both support 4K video recording, so we might have needed a 128GB internal storage model.
Software wise, the clean UI of the Nokia 8 is an advantage, and the company claims this will be the fastest phone to get Android O updates. For fans of clean, stock Android, the new Nokia 8 will seem appealing.
3. OZO Audio:
Nokia 8 comes with OZO Audio, which promises to capture and playback all ambient sound on your video. It is offering 360-degree spatial audio experience in video recordings. With this, you can record 4K videos with 360-degree spatial audio with Audio Focus.
4. Camera:
Nokia 8 has taken the plunge into the dual-rear camera trend. It has a vertically stacked set of dual rear cameras (13MP Colour sensor with OIS + 13MP Mono sensor), and there’s a front 13MP camera all well.
Nokia 8 has PDAF, IR range finder, dual tone flash on the rear camera, and yes there’s the Zeiss Optics branding as well that used to be standard on older Nokia phones. The native camera also supports live video streaming. Nokia 8 camera also gets a manual mode.

5. Bothie:
HMD Global has also added a new option of ‘dual sight mode’, where both the front and rear camera can be used at the time, for videos, pictures and live streams on Facebook and YouTube.
